En 2005, la Asamblea Nacional eligi\u00f3 a 18 diputados b\u00falgaros que ten\u00edan el estatuto de observadores. Hasta el momento de la adhesi\u00f3n de Bulgaria a la UE, estos ten\u00edan derecho a participar en todas las reuniones del Parlamento Europeo &#8211; de grupos pol\u00edticos, comisiones y plenos &#8211; pero sin derecho a voto.
