As other EU countries have already named their candidates for the new-composition European Commission (EC), Lithuania’s leadership, President Gitanas Nausėda, and the Conservative Homeland Union (HU-LCD)-led Cabinet, are in a fiery spat over who should represent Lithuania in the Commission.
The Conservatives would like to nominate Gabrielius Landsbergis, the country’s foreign minister for the coveted post, but the President has bristled against the candidacy, saying that there are “better candidates.”
